God knows my purpose even when I do not

Comment on 2 Week check up by Kat - September 17, 2008

I have 5 kids and for my last 3, everytime it was time for new baby to come, the older kids got to go on a vacation at grandma and grandpa's house. Usually, we'd have a sitter for the day of the birth (since my parents live an hour away) and then the kids would be able to visit in the hospital and such. Then off they'd go with their grandparents for 2 weeks of spoiling and fun while DH and I had the chance to relax and get to know our newest family member. :) Good Luck and congrats to...

It will get better with Lexi. She is so used to having you all to herself and now she doesn't. She has also hit that 2yr age that everything is about me and no one else. It may take awhile but it will all work out trust me I know. You might try doing something special with just Lexi. Even if it is just going to the corner store and getting ice cream or what ever it was that you ran out of that day. You also might find out that's all you and her need. Of course you have to wait until hubby.

hey! i don't know for sure about the milk bank stuff but even if they won't take your milk they might know some ways to get the word out to people who are in need - since we're adopting i know i will be looking into the milk bank and asking friends to pump extra if i am unable to breast feed. i have a hard time believing someone wouldn't take the milk - couldn't a milk bank test it or something i've heard of others w extra milk donating it. i'll try to do some research and let you know!

i plan on having David stay at my parents for a while after li'l miss is born, too. He'll come visit during the day, but i can't imagine having 3 night feedings and waking up to a little boy who loves to be chased all morning:) i'm glad Caylee is doing better! i'm praying for your family.

Two weeks already wow! When it's time for 3, don't forget Lexi will be older then, too. She might be able to handle change a bit better, and then she can be a good example for Caylee. It might not be so rough then. Sounds like you're doing a truly fantastic job!

Jes, we're battling similar...again. I've got a cold, but thankfully, Eli hasn't had much of it. On the nursing front, he's doing better. I got him to latch on today, by catching him JUST as he's starting to wake up, and he'll nurse from the right, then the left, where before (like yesterday) he wouldn't latch to the right at all. I've still got to use the tube as an SNS, as my supply is unpredictable, but no more finger feeding...he'll nurse and use the supplement this way! Nipple...

Hi Jess Have you tried doing some long skin to skin cuddles. I guess it woud be hard with Lexi. But allowing her to be against your skin, smelling your smell, and the smell of your milk might help. For like 4 hours a day Also, now that the jaundice has decreased signifiantly can you not top her up with a bottle, and let her demand early. Just for say 2 feeds a day And lastly have you tried using a nipple shield Sometimes that helps them stay on a bit longer Just some thoughts from a neonatal...

:-) I can't wait til you get your rhythm. I miss you! But in the meantime, the last thing you need to be stressed about is blogging or talking to me on IM. I'll keep praying Caylee learns to nurse, and you get some SLEEP. (Of course, the two will go hand in hand :-P)
