Comment on Happy leap-year barbecuers! by Matt - September 19, 2008

Looks burnt. Use a Cobb Premier next time. I use it pretty much only for cooking whole birds, but the meat is always twice as rich and juicy. The bird on the photo looks dry and I hate that. Try a Cobb guys.

Comment on Baby Blues Bar-B-Q by KateNonymous - September 17, 2008

We tried them at the L.A. BBQ Festival. The sauce was so vinegary that it almost made me wheeze. No good at all. The ribs might have been fine on their own, but there was no way to tell without wheezing.

Great video, might have to give it a try. I've seen similar ideas but that's the first with the foil.

Comment on Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill by BBQ Jerry - September 9, 2008

Nice place to take your wife, etc. because it is big, nice, and clean. And the food is edible. But, they slow cook in an oven(like Hog-Wogly) and heat with a grill . There is no smoke bbq. or grilling slowly over wood or wood ash.

Comment on JRs Barbeque by BBQ Jerry - September 9, 2008

Meat is ok, but they slather a ton of sauce on it. Been their 3 times , forgot twice to tell them to put sauce on the side. The best places always put sauce on the side or in a bottle. Always remember, alot of sauce means they are covering up for a reason. MOM'S on Vanowen does the same thing. Covers all the fat (and no meat) on the ribs.

Comment on Santa Maria Barbecue Company by BBQ Jerry - September 9, 2008

I found the meat to be good. They do smoke and the price is fair. But, I would not go out of my way to go there. Willy's in Agoura is the place to drive out of your way to.

Comment on Grandpa Freds BBQ by BBQ Jerry - September 9, 2008

Went there for lunch on a Sat. Only one person eating at a table. Their was a large screen video being watched with ear shaking volume. Oh, and three employees were outside playing catch football. They all rushed in when we walked in. I then said no thank you and we walked out.

Comment on Barbecue Los Angeles by Jerry - September 7, 2008

Baby Blues was great until a cook from south of the border began to make everthing too spicy.- Thousand Oaks Meat Locker is good and low cost. They grill and some smoke, over wood.- The Swinging Door is now outstanding but located on Vanowen and Vineland and no AC DURING THE SUMMER. They smoke bbq all meats for at least 5-9 hrs.- Ranchhouse in VN. is barly ok. No smoke.- Hogley Wog. is ok if you just want alot of meat. Meat is cooked in an oven; no smoke or wood or charcoal. But if your...
