The brooch is largely complete, but the footplate terminal lobe is separate and there is no pin. The headplate frame is a simple beaded border and the second panel and inner panel have style I decoration. The panels and frame are separated by undecorated borders. The plate was formed by bending a sheet of cut bronze back on itself. The reverse of the plate is undecorated and is connected to the front of the plate by two U-sectioned hinges or brackets. The obverse is quite worn, but a shield can be seen, though the device on the shield is too worn to be identified. There is also a possible inscription around the outside perimeter of the token, but this is also too worn for identification. The reverse has a longcross with 3 pellets in each quarter. Again, there is the possibility of an inscription, but it is too worn to determine. The mount is lozenge-shaped in plan and rectangular in section. The mount has a slightly raised outer border and off-centre circular stud. On the field is an uncertain design in red and blue enamel. The red appears to be the background colour, and where the blue is visible, it appears to be some form of interlace. Unfortunately, corrosion has interfered with the blue enamel, rendering it incomplete. The handle is a flattened pointed oval in section, and sub-rectangular in plan. The outer end is rounded while the inner end displays evidence of breakage. The abraded break was probably near the base of the handle, where it attached to the main body of the vessel.
