I heard five presentations. The first was by Masanobu Sugatsuke (), chief editor of the fashion magazine composite and also of an ecological (or perhaps erotological) flick-book called ecocolo. Sugatsuke stressed that even not-for-profit publications need to be well designed in order to reach people. It strikes a happy balance between sober analysis and enthusiastic story-telling. The maps are good, too. At first glance there doesn't seem to be an English translation out yet, so I'll have to decide which language to read it in. He is now working for the Defence Signals Directorate in the Australian Ministry of Defence.
