Tired of Microsoft's Limitations Too Cheap to use VMServer VirtualBox is for you !!! Open source Virtualization software !! - July 4, 2008

This entry is about VirtualBox ! This is open source virtual systems on a single computer !! If you have no idea what I am talking about then you don't need this software! Instead I suggest SandBoxie, which is not open source, and costs $30 for lifetime personal license. For the rest of my audience that understands why we want virtualization, and has a dual core, or even a quad core computer then we have a new toy !!! The list of capabilities of VirtualBox is totally awesome !!! 1>...

Will Comcast Ban Me For Streaming - July 4, 2008

Considering the fact that this is merely a test, myself opting to do a test Ustream.tv broadcast over the my Comcast connection leaves me wondering where Comcast will decide to draw the line. See, I used to create a number of creative how-to YouTube videos designed to help Linux newbies overcome the hurdles that some might face starting out. It took one minor tweak, but I had the audio working easily. The webcam video was a no-brainer as it worked out of the box. But now I have to make a...

Do you PIM Do you send Notes to yourself Do you want to keep use a MAC, Windows or Linux Then Meet Chandler - July 4, 2008

This entry is about a program (Chandler) that I am currently moving all my notes, contacts, and some net collaboration all in one ! This app works on the Mac OSX, Windows, and Linux. The developers are working on French, German, Finnish, and other languages. This software is currently in a release 1.0, but is still technically listed by freshmeat.net as beta. The Chandler Website is very extensive, and provides a complete FAQ, and a product tour where they describe the calendaring ability like..

Jing Project review - July 4, 2008

This is what I think is one of the best applications for the Mac to take pictures of your desktop, because not only can you take pictures, but you can even record your desktop, which I think is awesome. This completely kills GrabUp, because not only can you take photos, save them, and then put it in a URL, but you can ALSO record videos of your whole desktop, one specific programwindow, or you can choose whatever you want. But thats not the best part. You can also UPLOAD videospictures of what..

A simple and easy way to manage all your social networking needs. - July 4, 2008

There are so many social networking sites out there now, it is almost impossible to keep up with all of them. It is very hard to post updates to every social networking site when you have more then one. I could never keep up with posting updates to both Twitter and Pownce I thought it would be almost impossible to post everything at once. I was proven wrong when I found a great Adobe Air application called Twhirl that would allow me to post to both Pownce and Twitter. That made things a little..

no led zeppelin in guitar hero or rock band... - July 4, 2008

The band, specifically Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, is not comfortable giving gaming companies access to the group's master recordings -- a necessary step in adding the band to any game. You tell them, Jimmy! P.S. We'll keep secret that it was ok for the Cadillac commercials though, ok Related Articles: led zeppelin sighting... sorta where is your led zeppelin NY Dolls to return to...

Reader Adam writes in to let us know his relative found a working Dell computer in the dumpster at his office complex. It appeared to be in functional condition, so he took it home. Sure enough, it... I ask you, is there any hope in the world It's not like this is the first time this has happened. Yes, I am in IT, but thenormal' news is full of these stories too. zz top signs to american recordings... - July 4, 2008

ZZ Top has signed with Rick Rubin's American Recordings. Their hope is to get back to their roots (La Grange) instead of their 80's period (Legs). I haven't heard happier news in years. Starting with the MTV Revolution, the Top went to hell. They lost their boogie, their soul, their blues. First with the synth nonsense and videos, then more recently to the detuned grunge and Funny Hat Period. All the while I kept playing their First Album and learning the early tunes that continue to rock.
