Strawberry Sablee Tart - July 2, 2008

Strawberry sablee tart is a Gordon Ramsay classic that has the crumbliest pastry ever, plus a few of his own modern touches. Pate Sable is made of more sugar & eggs than Pate Brisee and it has no water. He says "Instead of ceramic or metal baking beans, use uncooked rice. It is lighter, so it holds the pastry down without squashing it." There is a chilling time of 1 hour and cooling of 15 minutes. A melt in your mouth pastry! bbcgoodfood.comrecipes4443strawberry-sable-tart. --...

Red, White & Blue Jello Creme - July 2, 2008

I have been making this dessert for years, and it never fails to draw praise. While some people look down their noses at Jello desserts as being too kitsch, I believe taste comes first. This is light, refreshing, and it makes a beautiful, patriotic presentation. Preparation time does not include chilling time, which is at least 3 hours, so plan accordingly. (I usually prepare this the evening before.) -- posted by JackieOhNo!

Angel Cherries N Cream Cake - July 2, 2008

A good friend of mine gave me this recipe about 4 years ago and I've been making it ever since. Just make sure to use sweet cherries. It's sort of the same idea as my Peaches and Cream Cake. -- posted by Serb Girl

Rustic Summer Peach Berry Tart - July 2, 2008

This tart is not only pleasing to the eye but the taste buds as well. The crust is meant to be hand-crimped in a rustic fashion, so don't worry about perfection. I used peaches, strawberries and blueberries, but good substitutes for the berries would be raspberries or blackberries. A sprinkling of powdered sugar atop this tart makes for elegant presentation. Preparation time does not include cooling time. -- posted by MarthaStewartWanabe

Blueberry Lime Salsa - July 2, 2008

Everything in this salsa is fresh and summery. So delicious with seafood or chicken or duck or almost anything grilled. From "True Blueberry: Delicious Recipes for Every Meal," by Linda Dannenberg. The cooking time is really macerating time. -- posted by Chef Kate

Grand Old Flag Cheese Spread - July 2, 2008

Saw this in a Kraft Newsletter - it looks great! It takes very little time to prepare and is "fun" - great for holidays where the American flag is displayed. This is great to serve for Memorial Day, Flag Day or the Fourth of July. For a sweet twist - prepare as directed substituting toasted walnuts or cashews for the shredded cheese, 20 small blueberries for the olives and strawberry or raspberry jelly for the salsa. -- posted by DiScharf
