High-resolution angular beam stability monitoring at a nanofocusing beamline - May 8, 2008

Two semi-transparent imaging beam-position monitors developed at the ESRF have been installed at the micro-analysis beamline ID22 for monitoring the angular stability of the X-ray beam. This system allows low-frequency (10Hz) angular beam stability measurements at a submicroradian range. It is demonstrated that the incoming macro-beam angular fluctuations are one of the major sources of focal spot instabilities downstream of the KirkpatrickBaez mirrors. Measurement of underground motion at the SSRF site - May 8, 2008

For the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) and future Shanghai Free-Electron Laser projects, ground vibration is an important factor and, in order to attenuate it, the construction of a deep tunnel is under consideration. This paper concentrates on the investigation of ground vibration at different underground levels down to 60m below surface, in order to understand the effect of vibration attenuation with depth. Optimization of a BonseHart instrument by suppressing surface parasitic scattering - May 8, 2008

An improved crystal design for a BonseHart ultra-small-angle scattering instrument is presented. Defects at the diffracting surfaces of the conditioning crystals were found to be at the origin of diffuse scattering that enhances the intensity in the wings of the rocking curves by several orders of magnitude.
