In the course of this 45-minute phone call... - July 8, 2008

(in which I have spoken about five times)... Sami has been reminded that she appeared in a magazine, nude, at about the age of seven.Apparently her interlocutor still has a copy.

So, I was talking to myfyr earlier (by phone), and I whined that I was really tired and I wish I could go to bed, but I had to wait until after 11pm so I could call Blizzard customer service.  (It's an Australian number, but it redirects to their American office.  I tried to call last Friday but those slackers were closed for some holiday.)Being all nice like that, he found a clock and checked the time - and discovered it was twenty past eleven.  Time flies when you're having...

Ii jump, ii jump, ii jump sugei jump - July 6, 2008

My first solo Sunday School went well.  We talked a little about why we have baptisms, then the kids drew pictures, played with Play-Doh, and I taught the fourteen-year-old who helps how to make Good Paper Planes.  (I have a technique which seems to be little-known, but is simple and yet makes planes that fly really nicely.)  Afterwards Maureen saw the leftover planes and I ended up showing her too, for her to play with her great-grandson.Then later I flirted with her...

I are not smart. So last night, you understand, I forgot to have dinner.  I didn't think of it till I wondered why I was snacking harder at gaming than I usually do (apologies to seselt for stealing her chips).  I debated having some food afterwards, but it was bedtime, so.Not ideal.  I had trouble sleeping and slept terribly.  When I got up this morning, instead of my usual "just woke up" state of "I suppose I could stand to eatshould eat for health reasons", which is in...

Whee, incoming sleep deprivation ftw.I have to get up in under seven hours.  I'm teaching Sunday school tomorrow today.  I called J., my church's priest-in-charge, to check whether I have to use the books we have for it, because one of the books we have, at least, sucks.  Seriously.  The "bible story for children" is boring, condescending, and utterly rubbish.Soooo it can bite me, and I'm going to tell a story a little less stupidly-uninteresting-to-children than the story...

Context: Sami is, defensively, arguing that something she has recently done does not indicate she has acquired a certain behaviour pattern, because this particular act was justified...lizbyrd: <- this is a downward spiral

Tonight's dinner experiment - July 4, 2008

1) Rice flakes2) waterCombine in pot.  I put in too much water after too little, I think you want about twice as much, by volume, as you have flakes, but it's not that big a deal - too much water, let it boil longer to reduce, not enough, add some. When flakes achieve porridge-like texture (which they totally do - apart from not actually tasting oaty, they do in fact produce porridge), add optional ingredients, like:3) 12 tsp cardamom4) sprinkle of cinnamon5) handful of sultanas6) a dash of.

But I'm only in the outskirts, and on the fringes... - July 3, 2008

And sometimes, it's about fear.Fear that you've wasted your life so far, and thrown away all your chances at a future.Fear that you'll lose the people who matter to you.Fear that you'll be tied to the people who hurt you in places you can't find a way to defend. This is how the world ends.Fear that you've failed.Fear that you haven't, because at least, if you've failed, there's nothing left to lose.Fear that you've already lost people you love more than you think you could ever express. This is...

So, I was at the shops late this afternoon, and found a product I hadn't encountered before: rice flakes.  Not the cereal kind, a dried kind that looks to be the best rice equivalent of rolled oats going.  I bought a bag to try and make porridge with.So far, googling for recipes shows up options that include things like wheat, or, my favourite, one that combines rice flakes with wheat, oats, barley AND rye, just to hit the all-gluten bonus.I think I'm going to end up working this out..
