Planet RDFIt's triples all the way downRedland RDF Libraries 1.0.8 released- July 6, 2008 Yesterday I released updates for three of the four Redland packages: Rasqal RDF Query Library (rasqal) 0.9.16 Redland RDF API Library (redland) 1.0.8 Redland RDF Language bindings (redland-bindings) 1.0.8.1 This is a major release due to an ABIAPI change in Rasqal that is needed for the future. It only makes sense to upgrade all of these at the same time since they form a dependency chain. So rather than three announcements, I made one and shipped Fedora Cora 7 RPMs and Debian deb binaries too..http://journal.dajobe.org/journal/posts/2008/07/06/redland-rdf-libraries-108-released/ Low hanging dogfood- July 5, 2008 This should be, actually, a comment on Pters comment on my previous blog, but it really becomes a separate topic. Ie, I decided to put it into a separate blog. Besides, it is a bit too long for a comment To summarize, the JWS journal has a pre-print service running, as a back end, the openacademia software developed by Pter and his friends. Which also means that the JWS data should be accessible in RDF, probably following the the SWC ontology (although I have not found a pointer on the JWS...http://ivanherman.wordpress.com/2008/07/05/low-hanging-dogfood/ The perfect Mojito- July 5, 2008 Something light and sweet for a summer holiday weekend.http://norman.walsh.name/2008/07/04/mojito Referata, a Semantic Media Wiki hosting site- July 4, 2008 From Yaron Koren on the semediawiki-users list : Im pleased to announce the release of the site Referata, at referata.com : a hosting site for SMW-based semantic wikis. This is not the first site to offer hosting of wikis using Semantic MediaWiki (thats Wikia, as of a few months ago), but it is the first to also offer the usage of Semantic Forms, Semantic Drilldown, Semantic Calendar, Semantic Google Maps and some of the other related extensions youve probably heard about; Widgets, Header Tabs,.http://danbri.org/words/2008/07/04/361 Trac macro for DOAP- July 4, 2008 Ive created a Trac macro called DoapViewPlugin that serializes DOAP as human-readable text in a Trac wiki page. It uses doapfiend to take an attachment to the current wiki page and passes it to a Genshi template. So its as easy as adding this in your wiki page: DoapView(doap.rdf) I was surprised at how easy it was . Ill make it a little more versatile so you can use DOAP in your Tracs repository or fetch it by URL etc. Another Trac plugin Ive started will let you create DOAP in a form on your...http://rob.cakebread.info/blog/?p=15 Google, Viacom, Privacy and Copyright meet the social web- July 4, 2008 In all the recent uproar (New York Times, Google Told to Turn Over User Data of YouTube , Michael Helft, 4 July 2008) about the fact that Google has been forced to turn over a large pile of personally-identifiable information to Viacom as part of a copyright dispute ( Opinion ), there is a really interesting angle pointed out by Dan Brickley (co-creator of FOAF and general Semantic Web troublemaker). Dan points out in a blog entry today that while the parties before the court are arguing about.http://people.w3.org/~djweitzner/blog/?p=120 YouAndYouAndYouTube: Viacom, Privacy and the Social Graph API- July 3, 2008 From Wired via Thomas Roessler : Google will have to turn over every record of every video watched by YouTube users, including users names and IP addresses, to Viacom, which is suing Google for allowing clips of its copyright videos to appear on YouTube, a judge ruled Wednesday. I hope nobody thought their behaviour on youtube.com was a private matter between them and Google. The Judges ruling ( pdf ) is interesting to read (ok, to skim). As the Wired article says, The judge also turned Googles.http://danbri.org/words/2008/07/03/359 |
