Beef and Bean Pie - May 7, 2008

We made this all the time when I was growing up. It originally came from the Pillsbury bake off book from the 1970's I think. We lost it for several years and I emailed the company and they sent it to me. It was one of my brother's favorite meals and when he came back from serving the Army in Iraq, we fixed it for him as a surprise. We never used the Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls like the recipe called for but would put it in a pie crust. Also, we left off the American cheese. --..

La Tarte Amphytrite - May 1, 2008

I have used this scrapbook recipe many times as a starter or as part of a hot buffet of dishes. It is unashamedly rich and quite delicious, and all the other food you serve can therefore be lighter. It is quick to make and really impressive! Don't peel the prawns you use to mark the portions -- they look best when whole, in the shell. Make two separate tarts for larger-scale entertaining. Although this recipe is probably fairly well known, I have no idea where it comes from. -- posted by Zurie
