Odd Times - September 16, 2006

Odd TimesOdd times there be when I'm abed  about to be asleep:I close my eyes, and in my head  -- A Monster from the Deep! With piercing points of icy red,  transfixing me with horror,it burns to claw me cold and dead,  my soul to so devour.'O die,' it whispers, hating me  with avaricious lust;'but die,' it whimpers sifflingly,  'and molder into dust.'    My sweet, my final breath ..    Its heaven.

Still Death - September 12, 2006

Still Death Lei of lilies, spray of roses  dying on a window corbelwhere a blackbird decomposes,  keening e'er a frozen warble; open-eye'd as if awake,  though the orbs are dark and dull, motionless a hanging snake  out the socket of a skull: Fleeting clouds of starlight streaming  silent on a windowsill, silent trillions' feckless screaming,  leaving all in darkness still.     ---Icon: Still Life with Skull, c1850by L. Reunion - September 8, 2006

Reunion I was singing cavatinas  with my clairseach-switheling tree'midst the jungles of Brazlia  'mongst the forest canopy    (where my tree had come to visit      with some relatives of his,    (who, as hosts, were quite exquisite,      as were all our hostesses)), when the oft-remember'd laughter  of my dear-beloved twinbubbled up from down the...

Rainbow Lover - September 7, 2006

Rainbow Lover My lover's looks are ruby red.Impaling me upon the bed, they etherize my every thread.   How orange is my lover's skin:  a copper bronze when we begin;  a deeper myrrh when folded in. So yellow is my lover's hair --all creamy golden flaxen fair.Electric lightning flashes flare.   My lover's voice is beryly green --  a world of words in verdurine  with songs of silence inbetween. The blueness of my lover's kisswill melt me..

Lullaby - September 6, 2006

Lullaby   Faraway, faraway over the seas,    so deep in a forest of forebetimes gone,so deep in a forest of thickets and trees  there dwelt a lorn cavenewt alost and alone. A low little cavenewt asleep in the slime  awoke to the words of a weasel so wise,'Arise, little cavenewt, for now is the time  to climb the volcano and open your eyes. 'Come climb the volcano and see what's inside,  and leap in the lava to sizzle your...
