Mark Kretschmann (markey): Amarok 2 on Windows - Reloaded - July 18, 2008

My last blog about Amarok 2 on Windows had been a long while ago, but I'm happy to report that we have some news. Pau Garcia i Quiles committed a number of compile fixes, and it's now possible to build Amarok 2 with MSVC, and to actually run it! Check this out (click to see full size): Pau writes: Yesterday I stayed up until 4:30 AM while trying to fix Amarok to work on Windows, and when I got it to build it was so late I was too tired to test it. So I fired it up this morning and this is.

Harri Porten: Musing on a Summer Afternoon - July 18, 2008

The end of the day at the office is nearing. Sitting at my desk, going through the list of people who have requested a trial version of Squish today. Of course several from the usual suspects, i.e. large international cooperations. But what never ceases to amaze me is the sheer endless number of yet unknown shops of all sizes and domains that exist around the world. I notice a high-pitched whistle filling my ears but can&8217;t make out the origin. The harddisk of my machine started to sing its.

Michael Pyne (mpyne): Go me - July 18, 2008

So I just returned from a trip to Washington, D.C. The trip was the culmination of about 8 weeks of study for the series of exam and interviews required to graduate the Navy Prospective Nuclear Engineer Officer (PNEO) curriculum. You basically take all the stuff that you already know about the plant from having operated on it, and then go and really dig into how everything really works. It&8217;s not good enough to know that a procedure tells you to do something in the event of a casualty. ...

Greg Haynes: GSoC Phase 2: Kobby Development - July 18, 2008

After over a month of working on a C++ wrapper for the infinote libraries I was finally able to start development of the collaborative editing KTextEditor plugin this week. Its amazing what getting to see some of your development work in action, no matter how little, can do for inspiration. This week I plan on completing the session management interface and all its appendages (join session dialog, create session dialog, etc&8230;) and hopefully will have functionality for users to connect to...

A. L. Spehr (blauzahl): BugSquad Kopete stuff this Sunday - July 18, 2008

We're finishing up the Kopete bugs this Sunday. Remember, you just have to test the bugs, no programming required. The Kopete team went crazy and i think fixed everything we verified, so you might want to grab the latest version from SVN. I'm told the OpenSuSE stuff makes this easy. And their are always the Nightly Neons. We need people with webcams and stuff, we'll be trying to do all the really odd bugs this time. We might find ourselves doing something else as well. We've had a lot of...

Casey Link (ramblurr): Another GSoC Mini Report - July 17, 2008

I&8217;ve been slacking on the update reports over the past two weeks, because I&8217;m holding out for the exciting post where I say &8220;MP3tunes AutoSync is working! Huzzah!&8221; Sadly, this report isn&8217;t that one. For the past week I&8217;ve been banging my head against the wall of glib, QtEventLoop, and QThreads. I have quite a headache to say the least, but yesterday thanks to my mentor and Ian, both Amarok developers, my head actually broke through that wall. Literally. GLIB, and...

Ivan Cukic: Plasma Embedded - July 17, 2008

Due to some fortunate events, I got my hands on a small (miniITX) all-in-one board based on AMD Geode, which you can see in the picture. It is a low-power thing without any coolers (not even passive ones). My job was to install Linux on it. And I did just that - Debian GNULinux with KDE 4.1 beta which is in Debian&8217;s experimental repositories. I hooked the system to my screen so that you can see what it looks like (although it was a bit odd to hook something like this to a 19&8243;...

Agustin Benito Bethencourt: GUADEC + Akademy in Gran Canaria...thanks - July 17, 2008

Thanks for choosing Gran Canaria to host GUADEC + Akademy 2009. You have made us really happy. We have a lot of work to do now. Since it is the first time both events takes place at the same time and place, we will face many issues for the very first time. It is going to be tough sometimes but we have the determination for solving them with the help from both, GNOME and KDE, staffs. All I can say is that we will try to integrate efforts and people following the spirit that have made possible...

Harald Hvaal (metellius): Long-lasting dragdrops in ark, and xdnd timeouts - July 17, 2008

I&8217;ve been working on trying to get Ark&8217;s drag and drop to work again, and one of the goals I set is to get it more stable than before. One of the most important things to me then was to trash the old method, which was to first extract the file when the drag was started, and then let the user place it. This failed bad whenever you would try to drag a large file from ark and annoyed many a user. So I thought, this time I&8217;ll find a way to extract the info only when the drag is...
