Since its inception in 2005 the unique event has attracted national television coverage. Action gets underway today from 1-3 p.m. with a tourney for kids age 2-12. The first heat of true redneck fishing - anglers try to catch Asian carp out of the Illinois River using only a dipnet and their boat - is 5-7 p.m. Fishing continues Saturday with heats from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Entry fee is $50 per boat.
