Last Refuge of the IncompetentLast Refuge of the Incompetent - LiveJournal.comSample Fascination- July 17, 2008 I don't know why, but I'm always trying to figure out where samples in songs come from. It's kind of a pet obsession of mine. I've been renting all the Little Rascals discs I can from Netflix recently. I watched every episode when I was a kid and they're just as good as I remember. Anyway, I was watching "The Kid from Borneo" and the "Wild Man" says "YUM YUM EAT EM UP" when the circus owners give him candy. As soon as I heard it I realized that's where Howie T got his sample "eat em up" he.http://democritus.livejournal.com/1085711.html I love Anne Rice too...- July 17, 2008 ...but not as much as the guy I saw driving this morning with the license that said "LESTAT L" and the plate holder that said "Drink from me and live forever!"I wanted to keep driving and see what this nerd looked like but I was already late for work.I hope it was this guy.http://democritus.livejournal.com/1085642.html Setting Up Remote Secure Browsing- July 15, 2008 In preparation for going to DEFCON I wanted to set up remote secure browsing on my laptop so all my web browsing traffic and logins wouldn't be watched by everyone at the conference and so I wouldn't end up on the Wall of Sheep. I know most of you probably don't care about secure browsing but it's also applicable to another problem a lot of my friends have: web filters. Using this setup you can bypass your work filters and look at whatever you want by using your home internet connection for...http://democritus.livejournal.com/1085199.html Forwarded E-Mail Joke- July 14, 2008 > The Husband Store>>> A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City , where > a woman may go to choose a husband. Any Bay Area people remember that commercial<3 Jimmy Sommerville!http://democritus.livejournal.com/1084807.html (Untitled)- July 11, 2008 OMFG. So I got an email from Bank of America about this low rate balance transfer and since I normally keep a pretty high balance on my credit cards I was going to do it. I don't know my cc number though because I don't physically have the card and I don't receive paper statements(I just use it as overdraft protection). So, I called into their call center to get my cc or to make the transfer over the phone and spent the next ten minutes explaining to the idiotic lady what a "balance" was.She.http://democritus.livejournal.com/1084420.html (Untitled)- July 9, 2008 Hahaha, oh shit: Ron's Slip and Slide Extravaganza! This is the first time I've tried tri-booting OSes and I've run into a few catches.1)First, I've already got Vista and Ubuntu dual-booting and when I tried to create another partition(a 5th partition), neither Windows nor Gparted would let me. So, I deleted the stupid "recovery" partition that some Dell utility uses in case you eff up your Windows install. Like I need that anyway, hah!2)Solaris installed fine, quickly and in ONE partition(WTF...http://democritus.livejournal.com/1084013.html (Untitled)- July 7, 2008 Yay, I got my ticket to Vegas next month for DEFCON. The conference is at the Riviera but they are sold out a couple of the days. I was looking at Circus Circus, since they're right across the street and pretty cheap. Anyone stay there before Is it super skanky The Sahara is also pretty cheap but it does look kind of skank. Not that I care too much, I don't plan on spending much time in my room anyway.Camping this weekend was lots of fun. We tried our new chairs, which BROKE, stupid pos! ...http://democritus.livejournal.com/1083853.html (Untitled)- July 2, 2008 Neat site I stumbled on with cool pics: Childhood Fearshttp://democritus.livejournal.com/1083413.html |
