VISCERAL VISUALS: The Star Trek exhibit - August 4, 2008

Star Trek has become part of Americana, whether people like it or not. Created by the legendary Gene Roddenberry, the show aired in a time when America was changing for the better. The iconic Starship crew had a diverse group of people, and included aliens that were representative of the political climate at that time.

LIVE AND DANGEROUS: John Mayer - August 4, 2008

The line for beer is long and makes a person debate why they would wait in it to pay twice as much. If you were in that line, you probably missed Brett Dennen, the first act before the real opening act. Brett Dennen is another Jack Johnson wannabe who slings his music to hormonal teenage girls through MySpace.

RUTHIE KELLY: Ending early termination fees a blessing - August 4, 2008

I've always been suspicious of the fact that when I sign a contract with a cell phone company, I am expected to pay around $200 to end the contract. Pumpin' ain't easy - August 4, 2008

To many college students, the incredible rise in gas prices is merely a global conspiracy designed to rob them of what is left in their meager bank accounts, especially after eating Mexican food for the past three nights has nearly cleaned them out.

LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE: Dana Carvey: He does more than just 'chop broccoli' - August 4, 2008

Scheduled for 8 o'clock, a packed crowd awaits silently in a courtyard at Humphrey's By The Bay in Point Loma. The hotel courtyard is packed, with a small crowd of people in the nearby harbor filling up a few docked sailboats and several inflatable rafts. Fifteen minutes go by and the lights are still dim. Suddenly, an announcer's voice breaks the silence. A long introduction follows, and then before long, the lights go on, and it's comedian Mark Pitta, doing his own intro in an...
