Twist Bassler Update - August 12, 2008

How can we really trust Mike Harrah to build Orange Counties tallest high-rise skyscraper, One Broadway Plaza, when he cuts corners and does a half-assed job putting the old Twist Bassler house back together again over at Cabrillo Park Judging from the pictures above, nearly the entire first floor framing has been replaced due to damage caused by Harrah's failure to protect the old house from the elements. Rain, wind, sun and vandals have damaged the old house severely.

Has Santa Ana City Manager Dave Ream completely lost it - August 11, 2008

It looks like Santa Ana City Manager Dave Ream is attacking the businesses in the Logan neighborhood again. I received a frantic call from Sandy Pratt of Blue Bird towing on Friday. She told me that new traffic control signs have gone up all over Logan. These signs say that trucks over 3 tons are prohibited from entering Logan Barrio. These signs effectively shut down the majority of industrial business in the Logan neighborhood area. That is not fair given that many of these businesses have...

Yes we CAN solve Santa Ana's shopping cart problem! - August 10, 2008

One of the major complaints I hear all the time in Santa Ana is that we need to do something about the shopping carts that folks often leave in our neighborhoods and on our streets. They are unsightly and offensive and I agree that this is a problem in search of a solution. And I have one. What we need to do is start a bounty program for stray shopping carts. Yes we CAN solve the Santa Ana library shortage! - August 9, 2008

My experience with libraries is why I am such a huge library advocate. When I was growing up I learned English not only at school but by visiting the local library just about every day. Today in the City of Los Angeles there are over 70 public libraries. In Santa Ana we have one public library and one learning center. That's it for a city with over 400,000 residents. Is it just me or is that CRAZY Our city has a largely Latino population - and we have a lot of Asian immigrants too. We are...
