Dr Caroline Elliott and Dr Rob Simmons, of the Department of Economics, have analysed the success factors of 527 films released in the UK and found a direct correlation between critical reviews, advertising and box office revenues.http://www.lums.lancs.ac.uk/news/box-office-success/ The Guardian: 'The party's over'- (Found August 15, 2008 ) Research by Dr Maria Piacentini and Dr Emma Banister, of Lancaster's Department of Marketing, is quoted in a Guardian story about the increasing number of students who are avoiding alcohol. Piacentini explains that students "stage-manage their involvement and performance in the alcohol-drinking culture, illustrating the extent to which their non-consumption of alcohol informs their student experience generally. It was arranged specifically to help local businesses understand the practicalities of working in China.
