Frozen ducks from Taiwan are getting rave reviews from Singaporeans claiming they are cheaper, plumper and tastier, a newspaper reported on Wednesday. The birds made their debut in April as part of the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority's (AVA's) efforts to diversify food sources in case of unpredictable crisis.

More residents going to CDCs for temporary financial help - August 13, 2008

More elderly are seeking help from the Community Development Councils or CDCs to cope with rising costs. 1,000 residents seek help there every month. In the first half of this year, the CDC handled about 6,200 cases, some 300 more than the same period last year.
