It is called kexec and allows a Linux kernel to be reloaded(rebooted) without physically rebooting the hardware. There is more information here. !! I will find out and let you know. When I mentioned downtime I meant from problems, not from planned reboots due to kernel updates :) !! And don't tell me about support. I haven't met a sysadmin who have actually used it. Even an RHCX fellow I talked to admited that support from a sysadmin standpoint is a non-issue.
