The problem when your wife is out of town - for me anyway - is that I tend to work 18 hour days. The problem with this is that you make mistakes. At about 10:30 on Saturday night - I was setting about a chroot jail for one of our servers. If you have set up a chroot jail before - you will know it does get confusing, especially after a couple of beers and no sleep. Before I knew it I had issued the following commands; iunctura:usrlocalwwwusrlib cd .... iunctura:usrlocalwww mv lib usr mv:...

Still I wonder what I actually accomplished today. Continued transferring files. Had to rebuild my Outlook filters - that took some time. Got ezmlm working for my journal project and also for moving a whole lot of forums from database to list based. Database is completely inefficient for the types of forums we have. I think more and more that things should be built around email systems. As much as I did not think that a few months back. I also loaded the latest version of MindManager and...

Tradition dictates that any new machine is tested with Flight Simulator latest version. So today I went our an purchased the latest 2002 version. Install went fine. Of course quite soon into my first flight I had a crash. I was simply trying to see more of Sydney and used my mouse to change the size of the cockpit. I think the new Intellimouse (wireless no less) which hassome interesting settings produced a conflict. Anyway Microsoft humbly said it was sorry and made a connection to HO sending..

In a sense this has been a long time in the making. I have always thought that email to web log makes complete sense. "You can configure Radio UserLand to check an email account and post any messages whose subject matches your secret subject. If you choose to enable this feature, use a separate email account for mailing to your weblog, not your main mail account. Mail-to-Weblog does not leave messages on your email server, it deletes them, even ones that don't contain the secret subject." As...

I found myself purchasing a new machine from Costco yesterday. I have tired of the endless research to obtain the best price performance ratio's. I have found Costco's selections to be very competitive and of the highest quality. Anyway this machine is due to replace my old HP Pavilion (8590C) - which is being 'retired' up to the office in Charleston. The real gist of this story is how tedious it is to move stuff from one machine to the other. What with serial numbers long...
