Coast Guard Rescues over 9,500 people via Helicopter so far- September 4, 2005 The smallest Armed Service in the US, the Coast Guard, has so far rescued over 9,500 people in the Gulf Area. This is an awesome job for a service that is less than 39,000 personnel total, protecting all the coast and federal waterways in the US. Just goes to show you what a small scrappy service can do with limited funding, and a small number of very motivated and involved people. This video shows a few snippets of rescues the Coast Guard has done.http://www.jamesmcmurry.com/archives/000259.html Earthlink Creates site to help locate loved ones- September 2, 2005 My friend Chris Holland and the gang at Earthlink created an AWESOME web application to help locate, and share information about missing people from Katrina. Go visit it and of course DONATE TO THE RED CROSShttp://www.jamesmcmurry.com/archives/000258.html |
