I just got finished reading it and it too is an eye opener into modern day commercial farming. His website is also filled with info and pictures. (Viewer beware the pictures are graphic though.)http://tinyfarmblog.com/2008/09/07/the-omnivores-dilemma/#comment-32982 Comment on The Omnivores Dilemma by Jen (Modern Beet)- September 17, 2008 I also recommend two of Pollan's other book, 'The Botany of Desire' and 'A Gardener's Education' -- I wasn't as thrilled with his latest book, but these other two are absolutely worth reading!http://tinyfarmblog.com/2008/09/07/the-omnivores-dilemma/#comment-32979 Comment on Root cellar check-in by Garden Dreamer- September 16, 2008 Does anybody have plansideas for a root cellar built directly under a house with a crawl space. I am getting ready to build a new home on 1.2 acres and want to build the cellar into the home. Jeez I sure haven't been around in awhile... good to see things are going so well for you! And your onions from the other post look awesome too. :-)http://tinyfarmblog.com/2008/09/06/fantastic-egg-tray-technology/#comment-32928 Comment on Fantastic egg tray technology! by Matt- September 16, 2008 I grew up getting our eggs from the local (factory) egg farm. They had a retail stand right in their sorting room -- complete with a window to look into one of the coops. Always got our eggs in flats like that, wasn't until they closedthat I learned eggs where sold in anything else! Owner shakes his head at the egg prices today -- for the price of eggs at the supermarket, he says he couldn't have covered his cost for grain 20 years ago when he folded.http://tinyfarmblog.com/2008/09/06/fantastic-egg-tray-technology/#comment-32925 Comment on Outhouse deluxe in action by Sheri- September 16, 2008 I would make a deposit for sure! The trays are great, I have even heard of one musician lining the room of his studio with them...as good sound insulation! Just need to train the chickens to lay directly into them (:http://tinyfarmblog.com/2008/09/06/fantastic-egg-tray-technology/#comment-32867 |
