Salt Lake County Citizen Review Panel website and othe eGov news from Utah - June 18, 2004

There has been a lot of press involving the misuse of vehicles by Salt Lake County employees, including the County Auditor, who resigned last month.  I was involved in setting up a statewide fuel network over 10 years ago that tracks all fuel usage by vehicle.  This data was used by the county to identify abuses.  County Mayor, Nancy Workman, has commissioned a review of county policies which are all available online at this new Citizen Review Panel website. In Recognition - June 14, 2004

Two of our employees at ITS passed away this past weekend, Clair Wade and Ken Kelley.  I appreciate the service they rendered to the State and to their families.  Meanwhile, the flag is still at half mast for President Ronald Reagan.  I listened to his funeral while on my way up to Potters Ponds just below the Skyline Trail.  The Capitol Building (undergoing construction) was the scene of a special flag ceremony this morning (see photo). Utah Legislature provides customized RSS news feeds - June 9, 2004

The Utah Legislature has created a service that allows you to create customized RSS feeds for the latest information from legislative committees and task forces.  This looks like a great service and should add a lot of value to the growing list of RSS feeds available from Utah state government.  Expect to see a more comprehensive statewide news portal based on RSS in the near future.

New service added to UCJIS - June 9, 2004

Utah will be the third state to implement JusticeXchange.  JusticeXchange is a real time data network of county jail records.  CCJJ is overseeing the project which will provide law enforcement with access to information about offenders held in jails across the country.  The system will be integrated with UCJIS which already provides a single point of access to well over 20 different data sources.
