The conversion efficiency wood to alcohol is only 20%, and it produces only enough ethanol to fuel about 5000 cars with biofuel. Where does the other 80% of the wood go Well, 60,000 TPY of lignin ends up being landfilled - about a ton of landfill for every dry ton of wood the plant uses.
