Bye-ing time - September 22, 2008

Coach Mike Holmgren talked about the logistics for the team's bye week on his radio show on 710 AM on Monday morning. The team will have what Holmgren described as informal workouts on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Don't call it a practice because the coach isn't going to be running it. "The players will pretty much run those things," Holmgren said. The priority will be health, Holmgren said, so a lot of players will be spending time getting treatment for injuries. Holmgren said the...

Seahawks aren't that bad - September 22, 2008

Seattle's 37-13 victory didn't prove how good the Seahawks are so much as it showed they're not that bad. Not as bad as the Rams anyway. St. Louis had as many turnovers as first downs in the first quarter with one of each. The Seahawks staked out a 17-point lead in the first quarter and led by double digits the rest of the way. But what does that mean Hard to say because St. Louis didn't look much better than it did its first two games, which is to say the Rams looked abjectly awful. They've.

Run-on sentence - September 22, 2008

A couple of post-mortem notes. Seattle's 245 yards rushing was more than the 240 yards of total offense St. Louis amassed and it was the Seahawks' highest rushing total in any game since Oct. 16, 2005 when Seattle ran for 320 yards against Houston. Maurice Morris and Shaun Alexander gained more than 100 yards apiece in that game. Seattle attempted 20 passes and 46 rushes, a disparity that coach Mike Holmgren chalked up to the circumstances of the game. Guard Floyd Womack left the game in the..

Game thread - September 21, 2008

Update, 3:50 p.m.: Floyd Womack suffered a hamstring injury, and his return was announced as questionable. Steve Vallos would be the backup guard, and he's putting his helmet on right now. Update, 3:05 p.m.: Julius Jones just surpassed 100 yards rushing for the second consecutive game. Seattle had only two 100-yard game all last season, but none after the third week. Editor's note: This originally read, "one 100-yard game" and that's not the case. Shaun Alexander rushed for triple figures...

Koren Robinson inactive - September 21, 2008

Seattle just announced its 45-man active, roster, and it doesn't include Koren Robinson. Inactives: K Brandon Coutu, WR Koren Robinson, RB Maurice Morris, G Mansfield Wrotto, DT Red Bryant, WR Deion Branch, WR Bobby Engram and Seneca Wallace is the emergency backup quarterback. Wallace, who was on crutches as recently as Thursday, is on the field and in uniform. Want proof Here's a picture. Seattle does have Sean Locklear active, but he's not being announced as a starter so it may be that..

Limited tickets were made available - September 19, 2008

This is probably too late to help, but the Seahawks announced the Rams returned about 400 tickets that were put on sale Friday via Ticketmaster or www.Seahawks.com. Update 5:09 p.m.: This is to clarify that the reference of being "too late" was for those people who might have been interested in buying those tickets. The notice was passed out earlier, but I didn't get it and it wasn't posted on the blog. Those tickets have nothing to do with a television blackout. The game is a sell-out and...

WR Koren Robinson questionable for Sunday's game - September 19, 2008

Koren Robinson was limited in practice on Friday, and will be listed as questionable for Sunday's game. "He's got a little issue with his knee," Holmgren said. "I don't think it's serious, but I want him to feel good when we put him out there. He hasn't been playing much football in the last four or five months. We have to wait and see. That will be a Sunday decision." So it's a possibility he won't play "That's a possibility," Holmgren said. The Seahawks have held Robinson back in practice.

Inside the numbers with Doug Farrar -- From bad to worse - September 19, 2008

Doug Farrar's weekly peek inside the numbers starts out with a grisly reality. After two games, the Rams have yet to run a red-zone snap and are showing all indications of being horribly abysmal on offense. Historically abysmal, actually, and as Mr. Farrar found. And Farrar doesn't need to stay at a Holiday Inn Express to know what he's talking about. He's one of The Football Outsiders, the sharp-minded folks who put together the Football Prospectus, essential reading for anyone who wants to...

Seahawks secondary a primary concern - September 18, 2008

The secondary was considered a strength of Seattle's defense a year ago when cornerback Marcus Trufant made his first Pro Bowl and the Seahawks allowed a league-low 15 touchdown passes. Now, there were plenty of people whose explanation of that season pointed to the parade of backup quarterbacks Seattle faced from Matt Moore to Troy Smith to Chris Redman and Gus Frerotte. Heck, even the quarterback Seattle beat in the playoffs -- Washington's Todd Collins -- was a relief pitcher since he...

Koren Robinson limited in practice by a sore knee - September 18, 2008

Koren Robinson left Thursday's practice after about 45 minutes because of a sore knee. He returned to the field about 30 minutes later to watch the rest of practice without a helmet or jersey, and did not appear to be limping. Robinson has not practiced since May when the Packers cut him so it very well could be soreness he's experiencing. Defensive tackle Rocky Bernard also missed practiced because of a sore hip. Update at 4 p.m.: Right tackle Sean Locklear was not limited in practice, the..
