Code:QMats Henricson's weblogThe Ajax Experience, Day Three- May 13, 2006 First session of the last day was, of course, DWR & Spring by Bram Smeets from Interface21, the Spring guys. Unfortunately it took him 40 minutes to rehash pretty much what Joe Walker talked about yesterday. He then spent another 10 minutes (no, scratch that, 15 minutes) describing Spring, POJOs, etc. Very disappointing! When he finally started talking about the DWRSpring integration, then he rushed over the slides so fast it was really hard to grasp how things worked. I did see, though, that..http://www.jroller.com/matsh/entry/the_ajax_experience_day_three The Ajax Wittgenstein Connection- May 12, 2006 The Austrian philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889 - 1951) is best known for his 1921 book Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. The first lines in the book are: 1 The world is all that is the case. 1.1 The world is the totality of facts, not of things. 1.11 The world is determined by the facts, and by their being all the facts. He then goes on for 80 or so pages, and ends with: 6.54 My propositions are elucidatory in this way: he who understands me finally recognizes them as senseless, when...http://www.jroller.com/matsh/entry/the_ajax_wittgenstein_connection The Ajax Experience, Day Two- May 12, 2006 Slept like a baby all night, thanks to a really good bed and that I managed to turn down the temperature to a healthy 61F17C. Over breakfast I talked to one of the Atlas guys. It turns out Atlas is very similar to DWR in that it mostly is a remotingproxy framework for exposing server functionality to browser JavaScript. Atlas uses JSON as data protocol, instead of XML, which is kind of surprising. First session of the day was Combining advanced JavaScriptDOM techniques and Ajax to build...http://www.jroller.com/matsh/entry/the_ajax_experience_day_two The Ajax Experience, Day One- May 11, 2006 So, finally, I'm at the first Ajax conference ever, The Ajax Experience. Held at the fancy schmancy Westin St. Francis hotel by Union Square in San Francisco. Arrived a day before the conference started, so some jetlag had been processed, but still pretty tired. It all started with registration and then dinner. I managed pretty quickly to locate the only person I had met before, Joe Walker of DWR fame. With him sat Rob Gonda, another pretty famous Ajax person, so that quickly expanded my Ajax.http://www.jroller.com/matsh/entry/the_ajax_experience_day_one Just say no to JSR 294- May 2, 2006 I've read what is available about this JSR, here and here. It tries to solve the problem that you often need to make more classes and functions public than necessary, because classes in different packages can't access eachothers members unless they're public. However, I'm really disappointed with Gilad Bracha, the Specification Lead for this JSR. He wants to create super packages, which sounds like an interesting idea, but his proposal is just hideous. Holy cow! In the comments section of...http://www.jroller.com/matsh/entry/just_say_no_to_jsr |
