Get Ready for the After Thanksgiving Sales - November 24, 2004

The Target Stores have come up with a cool solution to insure their loyal shoppers can make it to the store on time Friday. Depending on your bent, you can pick who calls to make you up. The wake up call operators include, Ice T, Cheech, Heidi Klum, Lord Vader, and a handful of other less notables. The wake up call site appears to be powered by Dynamo. Dynamo is a Java-based Web server application. What other technologies are being used The sign-up page looks like it incorporates a splash.

Eclipse- Powered IDE for Laszlo - November 19, 2004

Announced on IBM&8216;s alphaWorks, the &8220;IDE for Laszlo is a technology preview of an Eclipse-based development environment for creating, editing, debugging, and testing applications based on the LZX declarative mark-up language.&8221; The RIA playing field is becoming quite interesting. Hopefully, this tool will make some web developers stand up an take notice fo what is going on at Lazlo Systems.

Well, it looks like the &8220;M$ Machine&8221; is forecasting lawsuits in the future&8216;s of those choosing to implement Linux in their environment. Reuters reports that Steve Ballmer, M$ CEO and a.k.a. Monkey Boy, informed Asian governments that patent lawsuits may be on the horizon, saying; &8220;Someday, for all countries that are entering the WTO (World Trade Organization), somebody will come and look for money owing to the rights for that intellectual property,..&8221; Reuter goes on.

Magnolia 2.0 Arrives - November 18, 2004

Obinary AG announced, on Monday, the release of Magnolia 2.0. Magnolia is built using Java and is touted as the first open-source content management system adhearing to the JSR 170 spec. The installation was a snap on my FreeBSD 4.10 server. However, I ran into a major roadblock when I attempted to edit the site using Safari. Since I am running a pre-release of Tiger, that might be the cause. Using my default browser, Mozilla, I was able to access and tweak the site as needed. Magnolia is.
