Rick Ross - June 29, 2005

Hmm. I may have gone overboard in my criticism of Rick Ross's performance at NetBeans Day. Yesterday, I ran into an old friend at JavaOne who has known Rick for over 10 years, and who had just bumped into him on the pavillion floor. My friend likes everybody but he's known Rick a long time and I trust him on this. Rick's just an enthusiastic guy. When I think back, what I took as a pro-NetBeans bias was probably just Rick being Rick. Sorry.

The event was soured by an excess of competitiveness vis a vis Eclipse, which forced the engineers into awkward, apologist roles. Way too many managers in the room; Jonathan Schwartz would have put them over their quota all by himself. And Rick Ross. The event was taped and I hope it will be on the net soon, so the world can see Rick in full ass-kissing mode. But I also saw or heard about some very cool things. I didn't...

Censorship in JRoller Recent Postings - June 27, 2005

Which recent postings get shown on the home page Only the ones the JRoller staff likes Is there a filter on disparaging remarks about a certain RR At any rate, I'm not seeing my recent posts there and it's very annoying.
