N.Y. Hospital Responds to Woman's Death in ED Captured on Surveillance Video - (Found July 5, 2008 )

The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation has issued a response to the death of Esmin Green, 49, at the Kings County Hospital Center Psychiatric Emergency Department. Green, who was brought to the hospital suffering from agitation and psychosis, was found unresponsive on the floor after lying there for an hour without receiving aid from the staff. A surveillance tape of the incident was released and uploaded to the Internet.

Forty Percent of Underage Drinkers Received Alcohol from Adults Over 21 Nationwide - (Found July 5, 2008 )

More than 40 percent of the nation's estimated 10.8 million underage current drinkers (persons aged 12 to 20 who drank in the past 30 days) were provided free alcohol by adults 21 or older, according to a nationwide report by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The study also indicates that one in 16 underage drinkers (6.4 percent or 650,000) was given alcoholic beverages by their parents in the past month.

Substantial Progress Made on Import Safety of Food, Feed, Drugs and Medical Devices - (Found July 5, 2008 )

Significant improvement has been made since last year to enhance the safety of a wide variety of food, feed, drugs and medical devices traded between the United States and China, according to a new report released by the Interagency Working Group on Import Safety. Entitled the "Import Safety --- Action Plan Update," the report outlines steps taken by the federal government, private sector and international partners to bolster import safety.
