Third Day CookieCandy Marathon - December 9, 2003

On the third day, I bake. I finish up all the chilled doughs that I prepared on the first day. Occasionally I will have time to make sugar cookies and decorate them to add to the gift boxes. Sometimes I even make a batch of fudge on night and add that as well. This year I am going to try a new recipe for Kaluha Balls but I didn't add that recipe here since it is not a tried and true recipe. When I prepare my gift boxes, I use waxed paper to separate items. For some of the gifts, I buy pretty...

Caramel Spice Cake - December 9, 2003

One of my favorite cakes, although I have never baked them in two round cake pans I can't see any reason not to ,the baking time would be adjusted slightly.. -- posted by KITTENCAL

Second Day CookieCandy Marathon - December 9, 2003

No baking this day. I've found that if you prepare the Crystal Candy first, then make the Bourbon Balls and Rum Balls and finish up by making the Peanut Butter Balls, it seems less labor intensive. Again, prep time, cooking time and quantities are nothing but estimates. -- posted by TPubmgjbd

First Day of My CookieCandy Marathon (Chilled Doughs) - December 9, 2003

I've been doing my cookiecandy marathon for years. I prepare my chilled doughs the first day then work on items that require no baking on the second day. On the third day, I bake everything. When I have everything prepared and the plates of finished cookies and candies are sitting on my dining room table, I take my containers and go around the table filling each container with an assortment of each item. Prep time and cook time are very rough estimates. As far as servings, I make a LOT but I...

Pumpkin Dinner Rolls - December 9, 2003

This recipe comes from the Chicago Tribune 11232002. I prepared the rolls for Thanksgiving dinner and they were a big success. (The leftovers made for a great breakfast)! -- posted by tgobbi

Country Fried Steak with Buttermilk Gravy - December 9, 2003

This is real Southern comfort food. The buttermilk is an unsual ingredient in gravy but it tenderizes the steak and tastes wonderful. It took me a while before I would first try this recipe because of the buttermilk, but once I did, I was hooked. The gravy doesn't "look" good until the cheese is added but don't let this fool you. This is really a delicious dish and is one that after you have it started, can be left to cook on low with minimal attention. -- posted by TPubmgjbd

Night-before Cheddar Bagel Casserole - December 9, 2003

If you have any left-over bagels around from the week, then this recipe is a good way to use them all up...I usually make this one on a Saturday night, so I can have it for Sunday brunch...the cheddar cheese can be replaced with Swiss, Colby or Monterey Jack if desired...a wonderful Brunch recipe. (note: plan ahead, this casserole needs to sit in fridge overnight) -- posted by KITTENCAL
