Air quality in Europe: state and trends 1990-99 - February 19, 2003

An overview and evaluation of the air quality in Europe in 1999 and its development in the preceding decade are presented in this report. It covers the European area, including the 18 initial EEA member countries as well as 13 Phare countries in central and eastern Europe. The report addresses air pollutants with effects on human health, ecosystems and materials.

EuroAirnet - Status report 2000 - February 19, 2003

This is the latest status report on EUROAIRNET, the Europe-wide air quality monitoring network coordinated by the EEA. EUROAIRNET'S MAIN GOAL is to improve significantly the extent and quality of reporting of air quality in Europe, and thus to improve the basis for representative assessments of European air quality. The report describes the network's status as of November 2000.

Greenhouse gas emission trends in Europe, 1990-2000 - February 9, 2003

EU and candidate countries' progress between 1990 and 2000 towards reaching their targets under the Kyoto Protocol is assessed in this report. Testing of indicators for the marine and coastal environment in Europe - Part 2: Hazardous substances - February 4, 2003

This report, the second in a three-volume series on development of coastal indicators by EEA, explains the process and results of a study of potential state and pressure indicators for hazardous substances in coastal waters. Due to a lack of reliable and comparable European data, the testing mainly concentrated on the method for aggregating data on six substances monitored in the North East Atlantic Ocean. The report's primary aim is to test indicators for EEA reporting.
