Horowitz - December 13, 2005

Talk about half-baked presenters like Clarkson versus the great writers like Setright and others, reminded me of the lack of any great musicians in the classical world today. As you can see, I'm listening to a cd of Horowitz. He was staggering, almost beyond belief in his technique. And his musicality was never in question, being the definitive player of many composers.I remember his last concert in London. It was the closest I have come to a religious experience -- the audience were on our feet.

Clarkson "Heaven & Hell" - December 13, 2005

So this is Clarkson's annual xmas offering -- his hour and a bit dvd of car fun.And this years is a dog. Tired, formulaic, boring, staid, repetitive, and verging on the offensive.Buying a 4k7 cheap car, brand new, and then proceeding to sledgehammer it in full view of the dealership is nothing short of crap television. That car could have revolutionised someone's life -- instead we get it used as the object of scorn for someone who is fresh out of ideas and is reduced to swaggering incoherently.

Pedalbikes - December 12, 2005

Had a london cyclist hit the BMW last week. I was stationary in traffic, he rode way too fast through the static traffic and clipped my door mirror. Broke off the rear cover. I got out the car, he said "sokay, will snap back on" and pushed it back onto the door mirror, whenceupon it immediately fell off because all the plastic latches had been snapped off. I said "oi, I need your info to make a claim" and he said "fsck you", climbed on his bike and road off down a side street. If I hadnt been...
