Mike Krus: Radio Tunning

Blogging the power, the beauty, the simplicity, the what-the-hell-it-this-ness and this-is-breaking-my-balls-ness of Radio UserlandÝ8

Ok, works! But why can't I post to a category I thought the "metaweblog" API was supposed to address this issue... Turns out this IM thing uses the basic Blogger API which does not (yet) support posting to categories. The Blogger API has a blog id parameter, it would be so cool if you use a (coma separated list of) category name there.

The new aggregator driver feature works nicely. I wrote my first driver, it lets you read FARK's XML feed...

dave Winer: "Oh and tomorrow, I'm going to unveil a new open architecture for Radio's aggregator, driver-based, like upstreaming, making it possible to plug-in new XML formats" I wonder if this will let web services fill the aggregator table or if it will still be file oriented.

OK, links in RSS just got a lot better, but they are still not perfect: If I clear the Link field (instead of leaving http:), it puts an empty link tag in the RSS (which is doesn't if I leave the default http: value, it then puts no tag) If I put no title and no link, it does not put the permalink, which it should IMHO. Not having any title to attach the link to does not mean aggregators and RSS readers can't use something else to put the link on

Title and Link for Blog posts - (Found June 19, 2008 )

Cool feature! Would have been better if: the template could be used to choose how the title gets rendered to HTML, maybe using a <%itemTitle% macro. if no link is present that the permalink be inserted in the RSS file (even if no title is present). It's a real shame that permalinks don't get syndicated...

I wonder if Radio8 is itself a cloud, if it's supports upstreaming acting as server rather than just a client. If it did, you could very easily write a file sharing system. Use a web service to browse other people's files, and instruct remote copies of R8 to upstream files to yours...

Emulating the rich text editor in Mozilla looks possible. Mozilla supports Document Object Model (DOM) Level 2 Traversal and Range Specification which can be used to manipulate text. That document says there's a bug in Mozilla's implementation, but Bugzilla says they are fixed. One of the bug reports has attached code to demo things, but I have not been able to make then work. Still digging...

Radzilla-SB: "Radio 8 and Mozilla combine to create a great weblogging environment. Mozilla's Tabs and SideBar eliminates the need to have mulitple windows open to navigate the Radio 8 environment. " Mozilla + Radio would be great if only the web based editor support the quick editing buttons you find with IE. Formating is a little more easier with them. (I don't care for the wysiwyg editor though). I wonder if it just can't be done or if the Userland people din't get around to...

Jake's Brainpan: "Here's a new little lick for all you Radio people: You can now get a counter for the number of comments people have posted, in response to your weblog posts." Now RSS exports of the comments and you've got all YACCS has...

Upstreaming problem: I upstream my main blog by FTP to my server. I decided to upstream my Radio Tunning category by xmlStorageSystem to the community server (and use those 20MB ";-") The actual upstreaming works fine but events and weblogs.com notification don't. The events show the category files being upstreamed to the main blog (i.e. categoriesfoorss.xml reported as rss.xml). The weblogs.com notification for the category use the category name but the main blog url (i.e....
