The future of Drydocks - June 25, 2008

Alternattiva Demokratika has been saying all along that the Malta Drydocks needed focussed and serious action - something which it seems the government left for too late in the day. AD Spokesperson on Energy, Industry and Innovation Ralph Cassar said that "In its present set up it is almost certain that the Drydocks will not be able to survive without subsidies. With 1,700 employees employed by the MLPN, the Drydocks is caught in a lose-lose position and can't compete. We believe that the...

ALTERNATTIVA DEMOKRATIKA WELCOMES STOP TO PURSE SEINE FISHING - June 19, 2008

Alternattiva Demokratika welcomes the stop to purse seine fishing imposed by the European Commission. Vessels using other gear can still fish, but the purse seine fleet is the most destructive one. The Green Party's reaction to Irish Referendum results - June 15, 2008

Alternattiva Demokratika respects the will of the Irish people, who have rejected the Lisbon Treaty in a national referendum. It is a big pity, however, that the Charter of Fundamental rights has been rejected. This will be a great loss for all EU Citizens. Alternattiva Demokratika believes that the right method for the approval of this Treaty should have been a European wide referendum requiring a double majority of states and peoples, as was suggested by the European Greens years ago. ...
