Happy Pickings

Bay Area gardener's growing pains and happy pickings. All things relating to gardens and gardening.

March has set a record for number of days of rain. I love that the hills are still green and lush. Unfortunately, the weeds in my yard are also very happy. We are so soggy, it may take a month to dry out. Weather reports another week of rain is coming.

Rain is still in the forecast and it is cold for California. Spring is closing in and no plantings can be done in this wet soil. It feels more like the beginning of winter rather than springtime. There was a tornado watch in the area of Oklahoma where I visited. I'll be going to Boston next week, where it is still in the 20's and 30's. Brrrr!

We have had lots of rain and everything is soaked and muddy. The cabbage and peas like the wet but it is still too cold to be spring or consider planting any more veggies.  The hills above 3000 feet have had multiple snow days. Very unusual for our sunny Bay Area weather and as a native to the area, I can say I don't ever remember having this many snowy hill days.
