Kiza's Journal

Kiza's (web)log... though I really hate the word blog!

Privateinrichtung - (Found July 8, 2008 )

I almost forgot that I wanted to link the website from this journal when it has been finished. Well, it's still not finished, photographs are missing. «Privateinrichtung — Opernfragment» is a project by Gabi Heller and Hans Melzer, both also made «4 Stunden in Chatila». Privateinrichtung could be translated as "private institution" in the sense of "being alone, private, with something". It's Gabi Heller's story about her disabled child and their life in our...

Alles neu macht der Juli... oder wars der Mai - (Found July 8, 2008 )

I'm really not impressed by Debian 3.1kernel 2.6 which runs on the new server since about a month now. While OpenBSD ran for 3 and a half years without a single crash, in one month jabberd crashed once, bind crashed twice and somewhere this morning spamassassin caused the kernel to Oops. Everything was totally fcked, w, ps or top hanging the console and only reboot -f made the system usable again. Wtf Back to a 2.4 kernel which at least doesn't crash after a month I hope. Oh and logcheck...

Final release of Useless Crap(TM) version 1.0 - (Found July 8, 2008 )

I never thought I'd write this sort of crap one day. I should probably sell it to Smmantec for inclusion with Notton Utilities. Crapware productions proudly presents: the Mac Mini hard drive declunker. Since you have probably no idea what this is, here's the short description (long one is behind the link above): Mac Mini = nice hardware. Hard drive goes click clong clunk every couple seconds. Me gets annoyed from click clong clunk and asks Google. Google ses some other noticed...

Here botty, botty... - (Found July 8, 2008 )

This is spam. Aren't you glad you can now also read spam in your RSS reader What would the world be without spam The sole right to exist for this entry is to carry a link to the page Hommingberger Gepardenforelle Wettbewerbdingsseite. If you have no idea what this is, bad for you. The Google bot knows what to do and that's all that counts. Like I said, spam. ;)

The sucking post - (Found July 8, 2008 )

Ants on the balcony suck. No idea where they come from they seem to vanish in some crack in the wall. Hopefully the chemical ant warfare stuff I bought takes care of the suckers fast. Ants in the nature: yes. Ants on my balcony: no. The internet sucks. It seems to consists nearly 99.999% of idiots and monkey at keyboards. Yesterday we set up a brand new Wiki in replacement of the mailing lists on the old server. First thing I had to do this morning was to delete spam some idiot posted. One...

Botanischer Garten 1 - (Found July 8, 2008 )

Now that I lived here for a couple of years I thought it was time to visit the botanical garden. It was a nice and sunny weekend. Here are a few of the 63 pictures I took, mostly unedited (no lighting corrections) just reduced to 640x480. I almost smashed my camera by dropping it on the hard stone floor inside the tropical 35C99,9% humidity building, but lucky apart from a scratch in the case it's unharmed.

Summary - (Found July 8, 2008 )

Shopping for a new life. Programming is annoying. Even moreso if you find out, that even for something that costs only $14.95, a crack exists. No, people won't even be honest if something costs more than 99 cent. And not even if the producer is a small, independent company instead of the big money sucking black holes that sell mostly overpriced crap. Ah well, I don't care anymore. Instead I've been thinking about doing other things only to find out that it's not much different elsewhere. I...

Yay! Part 2nd - (Found July 8, 2008 )

What a long day. Last Wednesday I finally could install that DSL line in Munich. After endless delays and problems it worked quite well actually. I still have no idea why the D-Link Cardbus WLAN card doesn't want to talk to the WLAN Router if I configure the WEP key manually, but it works just fine with encryption if I use Arcor's setup tool. Well, never mind I guess. I don't think I care enough to find out why. ;) Off to Munich with the train at 8:27, 15 minutes delay, arrival in Munich at...

Yay!!!1!1!! - (Found July 8, 2008 )

Less than 24 hours now and I shall have a wonderful, little, adorable, silent, hopefully fast, new Mac Mini! :D 1,25 GHz and a whopping 1 GB of RAM, the rest is the smallest Mini's default configuration. Even more unbelievable that I found a store here in Augsburg that sells it _and_ even upgrades the RAM for just 165€. Yayness!
