Friday evening - June 13, 2008

I'm reaching the end of another busy week. There seems to be no let upas day follows day. The absence of postings for the last couple ofdays has been accidental, contributed to by a lack of free time.I was considering putting together a blog with longer and more seriousposts, but in all honesty to everyone, especially me, I don't haveenough hours in the day.The bank certainly gets more hours than they pay for, but there areother events too. Wednesday, I was at the "A Tale of Two Cities"seminar,.

No, not still in a tunnel - June 11, 2008

Good morning! Tuesday saw a further day at the Bank, with my firstspeech from the TI manual being very well received last night.Overall, it was possibly the best meeting of the Club since I joinedit. This morning: the new revolution: the first day of my new sixmonth contract. If all the bank's systems are working correctly, youwon't be able to see the joins! On the other hand, it might not be quite like that. I've had troublewith this sort of thing in the past. I will let you all know later...

Off to Wembley - June 9, 2008

Following a promisingly uneventful journey this morning, an excitingday at work before setting off for Paddington. An evening meal, conversation and a walk round and about before Mal set off forCheltenham and I set off for Wembley. I think I'll get to mydestination first. You know, the nearer your destination the moreyou're slip sliding away. But it looks like I need to change trains unexpectedly at FinchleyRoad...no, the rules have changed again...looks like we are going tostop at Wembley Park...

Bromborough - June 9, 2008

Shouldn't I feel less tired after a weekend, especially one where Ihave unfortunately left undone many of those things I ought to havedoneWhatever the theory, early nights would make it better. There aren'tmany of those at the moment and this week won't be helping that.Apart from probably the busiest week of the month in the Bank'scalendar, I have a busy social calendar in the evenings.Tonight, all being well, meeting up with a friend from school who nowlives near Cheltenham. Tomorrow, for the..

The rest of Saturday - June 7, 2008

Went shopping around lunchtime. Bought a load of food, some for now, some for later. On the way home, was crapped on from a great height bya passing bird, something that hasn't happened to me for a long time.Viv is singing tonight and was picked up for the practice at five fora performance at seven. NOOOOooo! Picked up at a quarter to five for aperformance at six! So evening meal was a bit rushed. And now, in thewords of the prophet, I'm on the train.David is off to Abi's 18th tonight....

Saturday morning - June 7, 2008

I know I haven't posted here since Wednesday: it's been a busy few days, both working and playing. On the other hand, if I try to recall how the time was spent, I probably will struggle.Wednesday night I went out for a meal and a few drinks with Nick at Giraffe, a place I'd walked past regularly but never used before. All in all, a rather pleasant evening.Thursday lunchtime at St Helen's. The start of a series on Romans 12.Friday: another exciting day, beginning with the journey from Wembley...

Live from Marylebone - June 4, 2008

A day at work and then across town through the rain. It was the sortof rain that isn't really hard, but still makes you feel miserable.Still, if the 19.11 had been on time last night, I would have missedit. On to the Ibis, not such a good place as the Plaza, but half the pricethis week. St the restaurant, they failed to deliver a coffee at allbut still fancied charging me for it.This morning, the restaurant was so much quieter than the last time Iwas here. A Breakfast TV feature was asking...

Live from Hooton Station - June 3, 2008

Not at all a bad day yesterday. I'm starting to understand Viv'scomplaint: the phone never stops ringing. I finally got to lettingsome of our church friends in New Zealand know. It's a slow andsometimes painful process keeping up with who needs to know and I amafraid there will still be many who should have heard but have not.We are nevertheless still grateful for all the prayers, best wishesand emails and messages of support.Viv and Christopher were at Alder Hey yesterday for a blood test....

A relaxed Monday morning after the weekend - June 2, 2008

Good morning! On Friday evening, the train caught up from its delay a bit and we were on our way to the curry house at half past eight. And very good it was too! Home late but took the opportunity to say hello to those boys at home.Saturday morning was a day that had some semblance of normality. Angela came round to bring hats and chocolate and to drink coffee. Later, Matthew, Viv and I went off to Birkenhead to buy a suit, shirts, various bits of food, including burgers for immediate...
