(So lexicals go missing immediately)) Figuring out where a statement ends is a...

Support for interactive interpreters... by Branden - January 17, 2001

Hi.I&39;m actually not following this list from close and I searching the archivesisn&39;t that easy yet, so pardon me if this was already brought up.I work with Perl and I also work with Tcl, and one thing I actually likeabout Tcl is that it&39;s interactive like a shell, i.e. it gives you a prompt, where you type commands in and, if you type a whole command by the end ofthe line, it executes it, otherwise, it gives you another prompt and keepsreading more lines until the whole command is...

That is way cool.Though I&39;m not sure that all of the constructs of another language aregoing to be that easy to map into perl opcodes. Arithmetic, sure. Butperl opcodes aren&39;t exactly a universal intermediate language.Just in looking at your example, it seems like some complex replacementswould be a bit of a pain to generate. It would be nice to have aspecification for those opcode replacements. Like, say, perl code. Howhard would it be to do:use constant SUBTRACT_TWO_THINGS =>...
