Groovy Ant scripting- December 15, 2003 James shows us Ant scripting with Groovy. Really cool ! And all this implemented with just one class. I checked the first Groovy beta, and what I really like about it is how close it is to java. Even I didn't look at any manuals I was able to very quickly write some small scripts.http://www.jroller.com/nil/entry/groovy_ant_scripting Sun drops out of Eclipse negotiations- December 4, 2003 http:www.infoworld.comarticle031203HNeclipsenegot_1.html I'm sorry for sun. They should have known, how hard it will be to compete against Eclipse. With Lotus Workplace 2.0 being based on the Eclipse platform, the Eclipse platform will find it's way to lots of desktops. This will again make it harder for Sun to ignore SWT and the Eclipse platform.http://www.jroller.com/nil/entry/sun_drops_out_of_eclipse Java P2P sockets- December 4, 2003 p2psockets is a reimplementation of the standard Java sockets on top of JXTA ! They already have JSPWiki, Jetty and other stuff running on top of it. I'm looking forward to give it a try.http://www.jroller.com/nil/entry/java_p2p_sockets Eclipse switching to new runtime- December 1, 2003 The Eclipse project switched to a new runtime, shortly after build M5. The new runtime seems to be based on the OSGi specification. When searching for a lightweight component container a while ago, I experimented with the free OSGI implementation called "Oscar" and was pretty much impressed from what I saw. I'm glad that the Eclipse Equinox team didn't reinvent the wheel, and I hope we will benefit all by finally getting a (de facto) standard light weight java component model.http://www.jroller.com/nil/entry/eclipse_switching_to_new_runtime |
