Microsoft finally wants to build a real version control system - May 25, 2004

Visual Studio 2005 Team System is not only a source code versioning control system and offers much more than that. But the biggest news for me was that they finally got that Visual Source Safe is just not enough for anything else than a toy project. That's bad news for Perforce , which has been used by Microsoft internally. They other competitors may get in trouble as well if the price for Visual Studio 2005 Team System is not too high or if they offer the source code versioning control...

Mac OS X 10.3 running on your x86 PC ! - May 11, 2004

Ok there's no native port of Mac OS X yet, but PearPC does it, by emulating a PowerPC. They even have a JIT that translates PowerPC code on-the-fly to native x86 code. WOW !

Domain specific languages must die ! - May 10, 2004

I not a great fan of domain specific languages, because programming language design is difficult ( if not we wouldn't have Perl ;) ) and DSL's tend to evolve into almost complete, but complicated programming languages. Debuggers and all the other tools that make programming easier, have to be implemented from scratch for DSL's, which is often not done. My favourite example for an unnecessary DSL is ANT, also it has in the meantime more tool support then most other DSL's. I think what is..
