Ethanex Energy Inc. declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy late Thursday, having failed to raise $1.5 million in interim financing for its planned construction of ethanol plants.The Basehor, Kan., company listed $1.85 million in assets and nearly $849,000 in liabilities.Ethanex, which at one point had announced plans to build three ethanol plants, announced Monday that it had ceased operations and ended an agreement to buy a small ethanol plant in Nebraska.
