The spill occurred about 6 p.m. Tuesday in Glendale and entered the Los Angeles River. The beach was closed west of the Belmont Pier to Third Place, according to Long Beach Health Officer Helene Calvet. City officials said the spill likely did not seriously impact water quality, but the beach was being closed as a precaution.
