Houston, Red Raiders ink home & home series - July 11, 2008

Get ready for a good, old-fashioned SWC red-out. The University of Houston has agreed to a home-and-home football series with Texas Tech, beginning in 2009. The first game will be played on Sept. 26, 2009, at Robertson Stadium, with the second game set for Sept. 25, 2010, at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock. The Cougars have not played the Red Raiders since the dissolution of the Southwest Conference after the 1995 season. Here's a little tidbit that may surprise some fellow bloggers who are..

Five things I want to see this season... - July 8, 2008

Inspired by several bloggers who do their "top 100 things for the season", I'm inspired to share five things I want to see this season.... 1) Is someone ready to rise up and knock USC off their Pac10 perch Despite the recent success of Oregon (and Cal, to a lesser degree) there has not been a consistent challenger to Pete Carroll's throne. Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun wants changes in the academy's football schedule and it looks like he'll get them. According to The Denver Post, Calhoun has asked Air Force athletic director Hans Mueh to back away from future away games with upper-tier FBS teams from the first game of the season so that the Falcons can work...

New SMU uniforms harken back to the Pony Express - July 5, 2008

With so much to look forward to with new head coach June Jones, the SMU Mustangs are donning new uniforms to honor the school's legendary past, complete with white helmets and uniform pants that harken back to the "Pony Express" days of the 1980s. "The fans have spoken and we have listened. Since I arrived at SMU, I have stated that I wanted to return the Mustang football program to national prominence," said SMU Director of Athletics Steve Orsini. "When people think of SMU, they think of...
