General Bitchery - June 28, 2008

We're away this week in Connecticut for a family scattering. Because we're basically just staying in the same hotel. There's not a whole lot of gathering going on. Just a few things worth pointing out: What should have been a four hour trip turned into an eight hour trip. With a toddler who hates the car. Fuck you, Merritt parkway. Sideways. In the corn hole. If I never have to listen to The Wonder Pets theme song ever again, I will scoop my ear drums out with an Italian ice...

Ego Stroking - June 25, 2008

Wow. I really and truly love you guys. Thank you so much for everything you've said. You made me feel like the world's best mother. If you were sitting in my family room, I'd make you brownies and give you big hugs. I still have my bad days, but they're getting better. The Mini has an appointment with early intervention on July 8th. I figure that it can't hurt to have them come out and assess him for any delays. But I feel better. Our interactions with him have gotten a positive...

I should drink more. - June 21, 2008

When I was a kid, I had this recurring dream. It wasn't so much disturbing in the sense that it was a nightmare, but kind of disturbing in the sense that a labyrinth would be disturbing. Unless of course you find labyrinths fascinating, in which case, carry on, then. The dream started with me, as a kid, sitting in my old driveway on Long Island, in the drivers seat. I can't see over the steering wheel, but I slowly back out of the driveway and into the busy street, where I proceed to drive...

File Under: Color me surprised - June 13, 2008

I had a doctor's appointment in the city this morning, which I had to unfortunately drag the Mini to. This particular doctor, is an expert in her field, and one of the few good doctors in the country that handles this particular issue. Which is great, having an expert in my own back yard. The problem with this, is that I often have to wait for at least an hour in the waiting room before I see her. Toddler + Wait = nuclear fucking meltdown. Of course he fell asleep on the way home,...

Even my Meme's are eco friendly. - June 12, 2008

I do so few meme's but, I'm all about recycling these days, so here's something fun to do, if you want. Find an old questionaire type meme that you've done in the past and repost it. Cross out the answers that have changed and fill in the new ones. I dug this up while looking for something in my archives: Originally posted 2404: Favorite Color: Purple PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENK. Favorite Flower: Eh, I'd say cala lilies Fuck lilies, man. Ever since I've had the pleasure of yard work,..

Is it possible to die of a cheese tot overdose - June 10, 2008

The Meester and I almost never eat fast food. Even when we were single and didn't have to cook, we just weren't fans of it unless we absolutely had to eat it. Like many other people these days, we have a garden, we joined a CSA. We eat pretty organic and healthy. A lot of my friends will rib me and say that living in California turned me into a hippie. I can tell you with total honesty, that it wasn't California that turned me into a hippie, but that tiny little genetic imprint of me...

Beginners luck. - June 9, 2008

Let your technophobe mother try out your new Wii, and watch her kick both of your asses in bowling.

A porter house for the shiny new teeth. - June 8, 2008

Wonder why your child has displayed such fantastic displays of douchery for the last week. So much that it reminds you of the colic days and makes you question your sanity on this whole parenting gig and question why it is exactly that your utertus is in overdrive every time you see an infant. And then discover that your lovely child has had not one, but THREE molars come through at once. Put yourself on that list for parent of the decade, because, gee, aren't you observant.

15 months - June 7, 2008

The Mini turned 15 months old yesterday. He had his 15 month well baby check up this afternoon. I had to wake him up from a nap to take him there, so you can go ahead and ask how the rest of my day went. Or you can assume that it was hell on earth and you'd assume right. I never really pay attention too much to percentiles, mainly because I think they're a shit way to stroke parents egos and make other parents feel invalidated somehow. As if it's their fault their kid "falls short of...

Not enough coffee. - June 3, 2008

The Mini started acting like an insane toddler on Saturday. Just really cranky, incorrigible and well, that's all I'll say because I was pretty much mumbling choice phrases under my breath. I chalked it up to teething as we had a molar break through last week, which I totally didn't even expect to come in. His teeth have a way of taking forever to come in, to the point where I give up and forget about it and then it finally decides to sneak up on me when I least expect it. I blame my...
