New Litestep Theme Site - (Found July 15, 2008 )

Undergoing immense withdrawal since the sole litestep-only site went down Suffer no more - ls-themes.org has thrown open its doors. (LS.net should be back with us shortly as well.) It's nice, it's neat and it only has a few themes - so start uploading! Do also provide constructive feedback in the forums there. I'd like to take this opportunity to formally welcome ls-themes to our most elite club: "Shell sites with Hyphens In Their names" (we can't think of a good acronym yet). Just when...

Theme links updated - (Found July 15, 2008 )

I noticed that some of the themes that were reviewed in past issues had broken download links. I've updated them all. You may now download to your heart's content.

Kapsules is almost here!! - (Found July 15, 2008 )

Andrew Powell, the developer for Kapsules ("A scriptable, whatever-suits-you application engine" according to Andrew himself.) would like experienced beta testers to help him get a solid release out the door. Screenshot : http:shellscape.orgkapsules.png AVI : http:shellscape.org4.aviPlease note the AVI is in DIVX format. If you do not have the DIVX codecs installed you can still view the movie, but it may appear slightly distorted. Do get in touch with Andrew using andrewatshellscape.org....

State of the Step - (Found July 15, 2008 )

The new LS dev team has revived an old tradition: The State of the Step. Some highlights: The devteam now consists of ilmcuts, jugg, Message, Rabidcow and Sci. If you think you have the balls to join the devteam, get in touch with one of these folks. Documentation writers are needed, in particular for a new Litestep Documentation Team, as well as someone to maintain lsdev.org. It's a very exciting time for Litestep. Head on over and have a read. Oh yeah, there's also a new release candidate.

Google's Directory and Shells - (Found July 15, 2008 )

The directory that Google uses (DMOZ) has been out of date for a long time where Alternate Shells are concerned. Finally, we have some say in what goes there - since Tresni is now one of the editors for that category. If Google continues to use the DMOZ directory, this category could be a valuable starting point for folks looking for information about shells. (Several other services also use the DMOZ directory.) So here's what I'd like people to do: Submit links to good shell sites. When...

Gears grinding on Issue 10 - (Found July 15, 2008 )

Ok, so it's been a while and spark and myself have been tied up with Real Life (read: sitting on our rumps). Time to get cracking again! If you've got articles you'd like to submit or ideas you'd like to discuss, give us a shout at raviatshell-shocked.org or sparkaneatshell-shocked.org. spark's still at the helm for 10. Looking forward to hearing from shell-folk, and to getting a good issue out the door.

Some discussion - (Found July 15, 2008 )

A wee little chat about the scope and direction of Shell-Shocked is just starting at Shellfront. I like to think of Shell-Shocked as primarily "By the community, for the community" so it's important to hear what people think. Maybe you have something to say
