The opposite of love - February 19, 2008

It has been posited, most memorably by Scipio in Summer Camp Book 2, that the opposite of love is indifference. It is not hate. Hate and love are two sides of the same coin. It is indifference. So, here I am, waiting to pass into indifference. I'm not there yet. Right now it's hate. Bone-deep, irrational, wild-eyed, if I saw you on the street I'd spit in your face, hate.I have reasons. I could enumerate said reasons. Enumerating them would not make these reasons important, because, in the grand..

And on politics - February 8, 2008

Well, not necessarily a political viewpoint, though I'll throw one in at the end :-).The presidential primary here in MA was Tuesday. This is much, much earlier than it has been. I understand the arguments against how early and compressed much of the primarycaucus process has been this year. I even agree with some of them. But this is the veryfirst time that I have ever voted in a presidential primary where the race was still undecided. And I've been voting since 1984. I've been faced with...

So, school. - February 2, 2008

I'm taking five. Three are continuations of last semester: Comp 2, Precalc 2, and Intro Spanish 2. Then there's World History 1 (that's an online course) and Introduction to Drawing, which actually counts as a Humanities elective. There was this girl in my Comp 1 class that drove everyone nuts. She's one of those people who analyzes a reading by making it mean whatever she wants it to mean. Or she reads two words, takes them wildly out of context, and goes of on the Tangent To Hell.
