Donation to Breast Care Unit - (Found July 15, 2008 )

In memory of their daughter, Heather, Ann andamp; Bob Abram, have raised over andpound;4,600 for the benefit of local breast cancer sufferers. Most local patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer are seen at Clatterbridge Hospital by Consultant Clinical Oncologist Dr Sun Myint who also sees patients at Southport Hospital. The money is to be to be shared between Clatterbridge Hospital and The Marina Dalglish Appeal, which also raises money for breast care.

For the sixth year running, Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust has been named among the top performers in the countryandrsquo;s sixth 40 Top Hospitals programme assessed by the countryandrsquo;s leading hospital benchmarking company, CHKS.andnbsp; Figures released this week by independent benchmarking expert CHKS reveal that patients treated at a 40 Top Hospital are safer and less likely to pick up hospital acquired infections such as MRSA

Expecting a baby, or just had one - (Found July 15, 2008 )

On Saturday 21st April 2007 Southport andamp; Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust are hosting the second Baby Day at Ormskirk Hospital for The National Childbirth Trust of Southport, Formby andamp; Ormskirk. The event will start at 11.00am and finish at 4pm and is being held in the Antenatal Clinic area on Level 2. All are welcome, just come along!

Patientline - (Found July 15, 2008 )

In response to recent articles about the increase prices of telephone calls from the Patientline Service in hospitals, Andrew Green, Facilities Manager has made the following statement. andldquo;The pricing of phone calls from Patientline Services is set by the company and has not been the subject of negotiation with the Trust. We do not benefit financially in any way from the bedside Patientline Services.

Hospital shop has its finger on the pulse and is the toast of the restaurant - (Found July 15, 2008 )

The pre-operative team and restaurant staff would like to express their thanks to Audrey and Ron Stuart, who run the hospital shop at Ormskirk andamp; District General Hospital. Audrey and Ron donate all the profit from the shop to various departments around the hospital and on this occasion they gave andpound;630 to the pre-operative team and andpound;875 to the restaurant.

A generous donation from Southport-based law firm Fletchers Solicitors has enabled Southport andamp; Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trustandrsquo;s Regional Spinal Injuries Centre to purchase vital rehabilitation equipment.

End of an era for Southport Health Services - (Found July 15, 2008 )

The move of Audiology, ENT and the Eye Unit from the Southport General Infirmary at the end of this month will mean the end of General Hospital services on the Scarisbrick New Road site after a period of some 112 years.

Audiology, ENT and the Eye Unit are moving from the SGI - (Found July 15, 2008 )

The Eye Unit, ENT service and Audiology service are moving from Southport General Infirmary. The last clinics will take place at Southport General Infirmary on Thursday 29th March. Outpatient clinics will take place either at Southport andamp; Formby District General Hospital or Ormskirk andamp; District General Hospital and you will be offered a choice as applicable. A confirmation letter will be sent to patients prior to their next attendance.
