11 hours at the PB - January 30, 2007

So, I worked an 11-hour day at the Pottery Barn today. It was inventory and it was crazy but not all that terrible. Everyone arrived at 6am or around there. I thought it was going to be really terrible to work such a long day but I surprised myself that I was able to handle it. Of course, at the end I was incredibly tired and I think that everyone was starting to get a little loopy. I can see where medical interns or jobs that make you work this on a regular basis would be hard and...

Two weeks - January 27, 2007

Its been two weeks since I had a cigarette. I miss them. This past week was filled with really boring moments but also with some incredibly interesting ones. I was off three days in the middle of the week and also I am off this weekend. Like I said before, its retail and the hours suck in the winter. But, I am making progress towards a career. I interviewed with the University of Pittsburgh School of Health Sciences for an administrative assistant III position. This job serves the Provost of...

The Telephone brings forth good tidings - January 12, 2007

Ok, so in a dramatic change of events for 2007, I would like to call this part of my life "Job Opportunities". When I woke up this morning, I got a call from University of Pittsburgh Transplant Center. The funny thing is that I never applied to this job, they found me. This seems to be a trend lately. Maybe God is finally hearing the prayers Whatever is happening, I like it. Combine that with how excellent things are going with the job process at Red Path, I might have a couple of tough...

Something new isn't always good... - January 7, 2007

So, lately I have been disturbed. One of my coworkers got mugged at 8pm walking to his car. It was a traumatic story that is not really mine to retell. But, he parks his car not too far from where I live. This has me freaked out. Now, I live in the city so its expected that there is a certain level of crime. But, I guess that after moving to this part of town, I thought I had escaped the fear of walking on city streets. But, I haven't. Something to deal with. But not all new things are bad. I...

Welcome to 2007 - January 3, 2007

As the new year begins, I begin to think about all the things that I hope for this year. I also find it difficult to forget all the drastic changes that 2006 caused. I didn't get the job at CMU, didn't get into grad school but was left with feelings of hope rather than those of disappointment. I laugh everyday at my job and love it there but is it ever going to be enough to work at Pottery Barn So, 2007: The year of magical things. At least, I like to call it that. My hopes for the new year are.
