Planet SunPlanet Sun - http://planetsun.org/draks: Upgraded Leopard to 10.5.4- July 14, 2008 I downloaded the latest Leopard (all 450 Mb of it) and upgraded my OS during a relatively quiet time. It took a few minutes to download the package (don't try this at home, I did it at the office which has huge pipes) and another 10 to execute, configure and restart my MacBook Pro. The upgrade seems to have worked perfectly. I don't notice much different behavior, but it seems to recover more consistently from sleep than it did before. I am somewhat wary of these gargantuan upgrades so I tend...http://blogs.sun.com/draks/entry/upgraded_leopard_to_10_5 Alec Muffett: www.iWantGreatCare.org - A great idea- July 14, 2008 This is one of those great ideas of the why hasnt it been done already kind; the money quote is: Doctors have always welcomed and valued constructive comments from their patients However, the BMA is concerned that an uncensored website could be used in a malicious way against individual doctors or provide a generally unbalanced picture of a clinicians actions. Old thinking and new thinking all wrapped up in a single phrase. People will be talking to other people on the website. In this video, I believe MouseTrap is being operated in "joystick mode," which means that if you move and hold your head in a particular direction, the mouse will move in that...http://blogs.sun.com/wwalker/entry/more_mousetrap_work HPC: Announcing Sun HPC Software: Linux Edition- July 14, 2008 The all-new Sun HPC Software, Linux Edition Preview is an integrated, open-source software solution for Sun HPC clusters. It simplifies the deployment of HPC clusters by providing a ready-made framework of software components to use to turn a bare-metal system into a running HPC cluster. It provides software to provision, manage, and operate large scale Linux HPC clusters and serves as a foundation for optional add-ons such as schedulers and other components not included with the solution. By doing so I put myself in the position to ask for the help of other zembly users. I can grant certain folks the privileges to modify and re-publish versions of my widget experiment. In the end, I'd like to be able to embed my widget in a more sophisticated application that I'll be developing using NetBeans. We built a cool reference architecture together last year on Solaris 10 and Niagara. So, it' time to light up Phase 2 with the virtualization story and a focus on storage for all the digital content being cranked out of the kid's macbooks. A good time also to check in on the latest news and atmosphere in the animus IP battle that's paralyzed the CMSLMS market. Then, after some days in the Sun and maybe a lucky hit..http://blogs.sun.com/kevinr/entry/blackboard_world2 storage: Storage News July 14, 2008- July 14, 2008 External storage enclosures in Solaris - "Over the past few years, I've been working on various parts of Solaris platform integration, with an emphasis on disk monitoring. While the majority of my time has been focused on fishworks, I have managed to implement a few more pieces of the original design. About two months ago, I integrated the libscsi and libses libraries into Solaris Nevada. These libraries, originally written by Keith Wesolowski, form an abstraction layer upon which higher level software can be built. The modular...http://blogs.sun.com/eschrock/entry/external_storage_enclosures_in_solaris |
