Wind knocks out power for hundreds in region - February 18, 2008

"But as devastating as this ice storm has been to our system, the damage would have been much greater if we had not been spending over $1 million per year on right-of-way clearing and over $3 million per year upgrading our system." Though the ice that encased area power lines and tree limbs had mostly melted by Sunday, high winds and rain Saturday night knocked out electric service to more residents, some utilities reported. via Southern Illinoisan
